Student Rights

Our students will have the right to:

  • receive classroom instruction that reflects current (available), state-of-the-art teaching practices;
  • receive instruction in the most advanced technologies available to enhance their learning and to optimize their ability to respond to, and control the environment;
  • be treated as total, integrated, human beings and in a manner that acknowledges basic learning and emotional needs;
  • be an active participant in the educational process, and not merely the recipient of programs and goals selected and designed by others;
  • express choices, demonstrate preferences, and make decisions in their daily lives;
  • be free from practices and procedures that purposively inflict pain, discomfort, and/or humiliation on them; and
